VAUXHALL SUPPORTS THE FORMULA WOMAN COMPETITION

We were very excited to announce last Friday at CarFest North that the award winning, all-electric Vauxhall Corsa-e will be the Formula Woman assessment car for UK and European competitors. The Corsa-e is the ideal choice for training Formula Woman applicants due to its performance and green credentials.

The weekend at CarFest proved to be a huge success with Resident TV Presenter/Applicant Nikki Dean taking the Corsa-e around the track, and she too was left impressed by the speed and handling of the Vauxhall.

We will also be present for all three days of CarFest South at Laverstock Park in Hampshire between 27 – 29 August. For any Formula Woman competitors planning to attend, tickets can be bought via carfest.org and we look forward to meeting you if you can make it.

IZONE TRAINING DAYS

Last week’s session at the iZone Driver Performance Centre proved to be a great success. We are pleased that this activity has gone down extremely well with many of you so, we are introducing another date which is Friday 10thSeptember.

If you are interested, please email edward@f1.co.uk.

DAYTONA RACE EVENINGS

We can now reveal that all assessment days (including overseas) will include a karting test, so if you have never driven a kart before get some practice in if you can!

There are still a few places available for the Daytona race evenings which are exclusive to Formula Woman applicants, the dates and venues are:

  • Wednesday 4th August at Daytona Milton Keynes – 5pm start

  • Wednesday 25th August at Sandown Park – 5pm start

The race evenings will take place in Daytona’s race tuned DMAX karts, so if you would like to book yourself onto this then please email edward@f1.co.uk.

MEDIA COVERAGE

Many Formula Woman applicants have generated media coverage with their local and regional media. This is important for attracting your own personal sponsors and we encourage every applicant to do this. For all those who get through to the final rounds, this will be a major part of your Formula Woman journey.

If you are someone who has appeared in the media as a Formula Womanapplicant, then please email edward@f1.co.uk to let him know. If you need some guidance in this area email Edward and he will give you some advice.

INDEMNITIES AND RELEASE FORMS

As with any televised competition and motorsport related activities, each competitor will be required to sign circuit indemnity forms and TV release forms which we will distribute electronically in the coming weeks.

Once you receive these forms, please read through them carefully before sending them back to us with your signature.

ASSESSMENT DAYS

The dates and venues for the Formula Woman assessment days are as follows:

  • Sunday 19th September – Anglesey Circuit (Track Day available for partners or friends)

  • Monday 20th September – Anglesey Circuit (Track Day available for partners or friends)

  • Monday 1st November – Knockhill Racing Circuit

  • Monday 15th November – Bedford Autodrome

  • Tuesday 16th November – Bedford Autodrome (Overseas competitor priority)

Mark@f1.co.uk has now commenced allocation of assessment days based on your geographical location. For all those who have had their allocation date at Anglesey (Sept) confirmed, you will soon be receiving final instructions.

MIND COACHING, NUTRITION AND FITNESS

The next step towards your assessment days is being well prepared in your head! In other words, some mind coaching, how fit are you and the importance of nutrition. Some of you are probably super fit and most of you will not be race ready. Don’t worry, the assessments won’t include anything strenuous just some basic guidance more than anything on the day.

Formula Woman have taken on board three specialists in this area;

Sabine Tyrvainen, Claire Johnson and Evy Roe will be creating some pre assessment exercises for you to undertake over the next few weeks to prepare you for your big day. Becoming a race driver is not just about being able to drive fast, there is so much more and we want to give you as much advice as possible in all areas of the sport. Watch out in the next newsletter for more information.

TRACK DAYS

The track days we are organising are causing us a few headaches in terms of finding venues as the circuits are so busy since the world is slowly coming back to some kind of normality. However, our Jaguar Project 8 race cars are ready and throughout August, September and October these will be available.

Samantha@f1.co.uk has been inundated with requests and we are working very hard to accommodate those of you who have applied for a slot.
