Can we please remind everyone NOT to reply to this newsletter. If you wish to contact the team please click the big Contact Us button at the bottom or visit the website.

Assessments

Booking in for your assessment days is easy – all you have to do is email Mark@f1.co.uk who at the moment can book you in for Anglesey on the 19th or 20th September. Formula Woman have booked the tracks exclusively and there will be an opportunity for partners/friends to join you if they so wish and participate using the national circuit at a preferential track day rate. Full details of this opportunity will be available soon. Anglesey dates will be the only assessment days where this is possible.

We can reveal that the dates for the remaining assessment days are 1st, 15th and 16th November venues of which should be announced by the middle of July which is when we should know more about Covid restrictions in the UK.

Assessments in North America and India are being organized separately and will be communicated directly to each individual applicant.

We are delighted to announce a new Formula Woman commercial partner – Daytona Karting at Milton Keynes and Sandown Park in Surrey. We have negotiated two exclusive evenings for Formula Woman;

- August 4th Milton Keynes race evening – 20 drivers

Whatever happens, you have become a Formula Woman and you are part of a very unique group of like-minded women, all keen to start the Formula Woman adventure. Our team are all ready to meet the first applicants at Anglesey in September.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 17th June 2021

This week’s newsletter focuses on assessment day FAQ’s, but before you read on, we have a couple of important points for you;

If you don’t receive an email you are expecting, eg. Online Tutorial login, then please check your junk mail, it could have ended up there.

Demon Tweeks have asked us to ensure if you are ordering anything from them with the Formula Woman Discount, you must do this via their Formula Woman contact Mark Jones markj@demon-tweeks.co.uk, 01978 663095. Remember to quote your access number.

Assessment Day - Asked & Anticipated Questions - in no particular order

I cannot make it to Anglesey, can I go somewhere else?
Yes, we have assessments in England, Scotland, and Wales so look out on the weekly newsletters for forthcoming dates and venues.

I have heard there is to be an assessment in the south of England, can I wait for that one?
Yes, but this is likely to be in November and some competitors want to proceed with their assessment sooner rather than later.

When will you release the dates for the other assessments?
Hopefully towards the end of June.

I have booked for Anglesey, can I change my mind and go to a track nearer to home?
You can, but only if you live in the south of England or Scotland

Can I come to more than one assessment day?
No, as this would be unfair within the competition rules.

Will I be there all day?
Yes, almost, as you will have 5 separate tests to complete.

If not, what time do I have to be there?
We will be allocating two starting times depending on how far you must travel.

Can my friends and family come to support me? If so, how many?
This is possible at the Wales and Scotland venues, but not the English one at this moment in time (TBC).

Where can they watch me from?
They can watch from trackside.

Do they have to pay if they want to come and watch?
No, they do not.

I haven’t been able to secure sponsorship, will this be a problem?
Not at all. The only reason we encourage sponsors is to allow you to reduce your own costs for travel and any events/track days you choose to take part in.

I have secured sponsorship, what coverage will they get?
You will have to submit your sponsors logo which we will have produced and located in a prime position for your assessment.

I have a personal sponsor, can they come with me?
They will only be able to attend the Wales and Scotland assessment days at this moment in time.

Will the sponsor get footage of me in the car showing their logos?
Yes, providing you have submitted your sponsor’s logo.

I have a friend who is a photographer, can she or he come with me?
At the Wales and Scotland days – yes!

Where can they buy tickets?
They don’t need tickets, we just need to know their names for access to the venue.

What do I need to wear?
Shoes suitable for driving, clothing suitable for in car and outdoors as the weather will be unpredictable!

Can I bring my own helmet?
Yes, we will supply disposable balaclavas and we will have a supply of helmets too.

What do I need to bring with me?
Your Formula Woman access card, your facemask, and your driving licence.

Are meals provided?
To competitors, yes, but not to guests however catering should be available on site.

I have never been on a track before, can I have a practice run?
Your driving assessments include a brief practice run with professional instruction.

Do you suggest we have track practice beforehand?
You can buy in to one of our track days which will be available on our website soon.

Are vehicles provided for us?
Yes.

What cars will we be driving?
As Formula Woman is being televised, this won’t be announced until nearer to your assessment.

Which track layout is being used?
Short and relatively simple track layouts, nothing too technical!

Where can I stay?
There are hotels and B&B’s close to each venue and we have an accommodation/travel member of our team to assist.

Can I bring my caravan/motorhome? If so, where can I park it?
By pre-arrangement, this may be possible.

When will I know if I am through to the next round?
December 2021, pre-Christmas.

How is the TV series going to work?
Like any new TV concept, nothing will be revealed beforehand. A film or new series only reveals snippets leading up to transmission, so in other words, we can’t tell you!

I live out of Europe, how does this work for me?
You will go through a similar process (application, welcome pack, and online tutorial), but your assessment will take place at a pre-defined venue local to you. We have a global representative to assist with each overseas applicant.

FINALY IF YOU HAVE FURTHER SPECIFIC QUESTION PLEASE GO TO THE CONTACT PAGE ON THE FORMULA WOMAN WEBSITE. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL AS IT MAY DELAY A RESPONSE.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 4th June, 2021

A great day was had by all those who attended last weekend's SupercarFest The Runway. It was a chance to meet everyone, get up close to a McLaren 570s GT4 and enjoy all the fabulous supercars on display and in action.

Online Tutorial

At last the online tutorial will be available on the 10th June. We are currently doing some tests and the portal will be available on our website. Please remember you will need your access code to get in to the system and look out for further instructions next week. This system is for all applicants, UK and the rest of the world.

Assessments

We can now confirm the venue for the first two assessment days will be at Anglesey Circuit on Sunday 19th or Monday 20th September. The full days assessment will be open to those in England, Wales and Ireland. These dates are also on offer to applicants from Europe who wish to take advantage of one of these first two dates.

If you would like to take part on one of these first two assessment days, simply apply to Mark Anderson at Formula Woman – mark@f1.co.uk requesting either the 19th or the 20th.

Formula Woman will then respond with an acceptance email and further details will be sent to you in due course regarding the format of the day, timings, what you will need to bring with you and places nearby to stay should you wish to travel the night before. There will of course be a lot more information for you to absorb between now and then as we still have 15 weeks to go!

For global applications (out of Europe) assessment details will be released over the next two weeks and will take place at designated race tracks/venues close to where you live.

The applications from Scotland and The Borders will be invited to Knockhill circuit near Edinburgh and this assessment day will be in November, we are just finalising the exact date.

There will be other assessment days for England during October and November.

All the above is subject to Covid and social distancing rules and possible restrictions.

There will also be a Q&A on the assessments which will follow to all applicants in the next week, so please hold off on any questions until you have read the email.

Media

Some applicants have done really well with their local and regional media, whilst others have concentrated on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube and some platforms we have never even heard of!

Please continue to do this, as this will help you with the media part of your assessment.

Motorsport revolves around publicity and feel free to email Abbie@f1.co.uk if you need any guidance.

Merchandise

We launched a small range of merchandise at the recent SupercarFest event which went down really well.

Formula Woman registered competitors receive a 10% discount and the range and prices will be on both Formulawoman.com and F1.co.uk websites.

The Formula Woman face masks are now back in stock and avilable along with T shirts, the City Bag, Drinks Bottle, Teddy Bear and the Mugs.

More to follow in due course.

Future Events

The Silverstone Hospitality day is now sold out, but coming soon are details on the iZone simulator day and the long awaited track day experiences.

Next week we should have some dates for you and also information on a very unique mind training course which is essential to all athletes male and female.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 27th May, 2021

I’m writing to everyone who has expressed an interest and all those who have become a Formula Woman in recent months, to bring you all up to date on the 2021/22 Formula Woman competition.

We have been sending weekly newsletters out to all applicants but recent applicants have missed some of the earlier news.

So to keep you all in the picture, I can tell you that we are on schedule with the online tutorial, assessment dates and the TV production format. Plus, we have a few events for those who want to do more prior to the assessment commencing in September.

For those living outside Europe we have developed a process so that you don’t miss out on the action.

Applications

The process is online – www.formulawoman.com and the access line is open until the 17th September. We won’t be accepting any further applications after this date.

Online Tutorial

This is a couple of weeks late, but will be accessible to Formula Woman competitors from June 10th. You will need your unique number on your welcome pack card to gain access to the portal which will be on our website.

Assessment Dates

The first and second assessment days for UK and European applicants are on the 19th/20th September at a venue to be announced very soon, once we are confident that Covid restrictions won’t prevent us from operating.

All applicants overseas (out of Europe) need to look out for an individual email instructions for your on-track assessments which will take place around the same time as the UK ones.

TV Production

Even though The Formula Woman project has been centred around TV coverage, it’s important for everyone to know that Formula Woman is a serious competition to find women drivers who are serious about going racing.

Many of you won’t make the finals but please remember this is also a learning process and an adventure for you to enjoy your Formula Woman journey.

Please treat the competition as an opportunity to learn, to engage with other like-minded women and be part of a very exclusive Formula Woman community.

Events

Because we are developing a community, we have introduced a number of events which are being made available only to Formula Woman competitors, these include Supercarfest, British Grand Prix, exclusive track days and iZone simulator days.

Plus there is more to come all designed to get you involved at the heart of the motorsport action.

Social Media

Not surprisingly social media is driving Formula Woman to all corners of the world and we are delighted to see many of you engaged on different platforms. Our little social media team would like you all to engage and post your pictures, video clips, stories, hash tags, reposts to make Formula Woman truly global.

We will help in any way we can to give you the support to do this and develop the Formula Woman Community.

Formula Woman was my dream nearly 20 years ago, when we found our first Formula Woman Champion, Natasha Firman, we opened motorsport up to many women. Now we are finding a handful of women, with natural talent to race against the men, in one of the most exciting race cars in the world….against the men!

For the hundreds of women who won’t make the cut, we want you to stay with us and support the lucky few, so that you can always be a “Formula Woman’ I am looking forward to meeting you all at some point and thank you for supporting Formula Woman.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 20th May, 2021

Hope you have all had a good week? Applications are still coming in, which is great to see as we spread the word about Formula Woman.

You will pleased to read a bit more about our assessment days and when and where they are. Good news for the Scottish applicants, as they will be able to come to Knockhill which will help with any travel plans.

Formula Woman 2003

In 2003, founder of Formula Woman Graeme Glew and chief instructor Tim Harvey, spent three days with 50 women from around the UK to find 16 racing drivers.

Natasha Firman (in the middle) went on to become the very first Formula Woman Champion. Many of the others continued racing or went in to other areas of motorsport.

Each recipient of this newsletter is now a Formula Woman and you will soon be competing for one of the most amazing prize drives in motorsport.

Forthcoming Events

SupercarFest Runway is on 30th May which is now sold out, but for those who managed to obtain the Formula Woman discounted tickets we are looking forward to meeting you.

British GP Formula Woman hospitality Friday 16th July is nearly sold out so if you are thinking of attending be quick! It’s just been announced that F1 will be qualifying early evening on The Friday for the F1 sprint race, so should be an exciting event. Contact mark@f1.co.uk for details or to book the last few places.

There are a couple more events coming up for UK applicants – iZone simulator day in June at Silverstone and a couple of karting opportunities with a new soon to be announced partner.

Assessments

We are all thinking positively about being able to commence our assessment days.

The first two days in September will proceed on the 19th (Sunday) and 20th (Monday) and next week we will reveal the venue.

Scottish and Border applicants will have to wait for your assessment date, which should also be announced very soon. But the great news is, it will take place at Knockhill Race Circuit.

Should pandemic restrictions prevent us from running the assessments we will simply move the dates back accordingly.

Social Media

We are now on most social media platforms and we would like to thank all applicants that have been posting and reposting on your own social media. Some of the images and messages you have posted are fun and entertaining, please keep up the good work.

Here are a couple of hashtags we would like you to use. #formulawomanracing #formulawoman #FW2021.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 13th May, 2021

Some exciting times are now beginning to get closer! The online tutorial is what you are all looking forward to and this will be live very soon. We also have two events where we will get the chance to meet you and have some fun.

It has also been great to see and hear some of you who have achieved media coverage. This is all part of the learning curve and will stand you in great stead for the future, so well done.

Wanted - Pictures of You!

Wanted Pictures of applicants at work or play

As part of our PR planning, we would like to invite Formula Woman applicants to send us pictures of yourselves at work, or with your family, or taking part in a hobby or something you might do in your day-to-day life.

It is really important that the images are not staged, but we do need to see your face.

In other words we DON’T want a passport type of picture! Oddly you may think, but we don’t want you in a car or near a car either!

As you can imagine, women from all walks of life have become a Formula Woman and we would like to build up a portfolio of some of you to focus on in our PR campaigns.

These images are not for social media use, but more for our TV production team, traditional media and our own PR.

If you have one or you can have a photo taken at work or play and you are happy for us to use the image, please send one over to Edward@f1.co.uk.

We do require a few sooner rather than later as we have a couple of media events coming up. Look forward to putting names to faces!

Online Tutorial

This is nearly completed with InGear Media and I Zone, so we should be going live with this towards the end of May. We appreciate most of you just want to get started but please be patient and whatever you do, don’t lose your access card!

Tickets for Supercar Fest the Runway

Sywell SupercarFest The Runway – 30th May

With Covid restrictions, this event is limited to 4000 places and Formula Woman have secured 20 discounted tickets for those who want to attend. There may be one or two tickets still available – contact lex@f1.co.uk for more details.

British Grand Prix

Silverstone VIP Hospitality – British GP – 16th July 2021

Since we organised this event last week, nearly all the places have been taken. This will be a great event to meet your fellow competitors and Formula Woman’s Lex Akehurst will be hosting the event. If you are looking for an opportunity to get close to the F1 action, please contact mark@f1.co.uk to ask about what’s included or secure one of the last few places.

Assessments

Assessment Days commence 19th September

We have been saying this for months and with the Covid 19 restrictions being eased across the UK, we should be on target for undertaking our first assessment day on the 19th September and the second one will be the 20th September. The location will be revealed very soon and no matter where you live, you will be invited to attend one of these first days. There will be other days throughout October, November and early December. Keep reading our newsletters and watching our website for further information.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 30th April, 2021

Welcome to this week's newsletter and hello to the new applicants! Again the Formula Woman team has had a busy week, there is so much happening at the moment, it’s really exciting.

Online Tutorial

Yesterday, Formula Woman started filming for the online tutorial at the iZone Performance Centre at Silverstone, which is being produced by InGear Media and is expected to be available mid May. TV presenter Nikki Dean is our ‘resident applicant’ and will be following all the Formula Woman competitors right through to the GT Cup Championship in 2022.

Personal Sponsors

Some of you are still unsure on the sponsorship guidelines, so please be aware that any sponsors you acquire, are your own and can be used for access fees, merchandise, track days and specific Formula Woman events, such as the forthcoming SupercarFest Runway on May 30th at Sywell in Northamptonshire. The £99 access fee covers the competition and is a one off fee.

Ability Levels

Some of you have been asking whether you are eligible to enter Formula Woman. So, to clarify the situation, the competition is open to women of all ages and walks of life, who have little or no experience. Those who have had some experience will be entered under our Blue Badge category and those who have no experience will be Green Badge. It is up to the Formula Woman organisers as to whether an applicant is eligible or not and a few applicants have been refused due to too much experience. The competition is all about those who demonstrate natural ability at the assessment days.

Social Media

We are delighted that some of you have gone out of your way to generate media for yourselves and Formula Woman, we encourage you all to do so. Those who have achieved coverage should bring proof of this to their assessment day, as we have a few surprises in store for you. We do have some social media guidelines for those of you who are well in to your social media activities. Those of you who have done your piece to camera please send it in to Ed and let us know if you DON’T want us to use this as we are planning to add them all on to our website very soon.

Formula Woman Events

Lex at Formula Woman is getting a few track day opportunities organized, so if you haven’t already let her know if you are interested. We are also planning a few days for Formula Woman at iZone where you can spend some time on their simulators.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 22nd April, 2021

Another week has gone by and there is lots of activity going on behind the scenes. Really pleased to announce our first event that we will be attending, a chance to meet a few of you in person! So here is some of the news from the last week.

Tickets for Supercar Fest the Runway

Formula Woman will be attending SupercarFest - The Runway on Sunday 30th May and for applicants we have a special code for discounted tickets, if you would like to join us. You need to hurry though, Supercarfest have only supplied us with 20 discounted tickets at £20 each instead of the usual £30. The event will be one of the first car events this year and they are already nearly sold out.

SupercarFest is at Sywell Aerodrome Northamptonshire and we will have at least one of the exciting Formula Woman race cars on display.

Contact Lex with your membership number to book a ticket or for more information.

Social Media

Many of the new Formula Woman applicants have been asking us if they can promote Formula Woman through their own social media, local media and even use their own cars to promote Formula Woman, of course you can, just remember to tag us in.

We have also had some 10cm roundals produced which we can send to you if you would like a few. Please contact Abi with your postal address.

We try to monitor all the social media questions and correspondence but we sometimes miss a few, so if you have a specific question please use our contact form on the website.

Some of you have sent some great pieces to camera (PTC) from your phones promoting yourselves as a Formula Woman and encouraging others to join up.

We will always ask your permission to use these, as we are hoping to get a few of them up on to our website soon. If you’re happy to send in a PTC, we would love to here from you.

Please contact Ed for details on how to do this.

Personal Sponsors

Quite a few applicants are still asking how the personal sponsorship works…

Any sponsorship you might achieve from, friends, family, your own business or other companies who are prepared to support you is your own.

This means that you can use the funding for application fees, merchandise, racewear, trackdays and for your own personal coaching and racing. Even if you are unlucky and don’t make the finals, you will still hopefully want to pursue motorsport in some form. So if you have a sponsor now, they may stay with you for years.

Track Days

We are in the early stages of planning some trackdays and have already received lots of interest. If you haven't already done so and would like to put your name down, please contact Lex to register your interest and find out more about them and other events.

Online Tuition

Finally a little about the new on line tutorial which will be available on our website next month.

You will need your access card, which was sent out with your welcome pack, to register on to the tutorial portal. Once you have your password, you will be able to go through the various scenarios and learn about motorsport, how it works and conclude with a simple test. It is more like a quiz to check you have understood the basics, before you attend your live assessment day.

Assessments

All we can tell you at the moment is that the first two assessment days have been scheduled for 19th and 20th September, with further assessment days to follow during the following three months.

There are two reasons we can’t be specific at this point – COVID-19, social distancing rules and TV Format. One seems to revolve around the other.

Formula Woman USA

For all existing applicants and new applicants from North America, it is expected that your initial assessment will take place in the USA. However, you will be able to log in to the on line tutorial which will be live in May.

All North American applications should have received, or soon will receive, your Welcome packs.

Formula Woman Newsletter - 15th April, 2021

As we gradually come out of Lockdown, there is a lot more happening at Formula Woman, so here are just a few interesting developments for you;

Applications

Although applications are open until mid-September, we do urge those of you who haven’t applied, to do so when you can, so that you can take advantage of some of the events we are putting on prior to the assessments commencing.

Some of you who have applied are still waiting for your welcome packs to arrive, in particular the ones in the USA and parts of Europe. Please be patient they are being sent out as soon as we receive your access fee.

Partners

We have recently added our Commercial Partner page to the Formula Woman website and this will be added to as we bring on more sponsors to support your Formula Woman adventure. Each partner listed has a direct link to their products and services. Do take a look at what they all do.

Personal Sponsors

Regarding your own personal sponsors, some of you have asked if they can sponsor you for more than just the access fee. The answer is, Yes of course. They are your own personal sponsor and any sponsorship achieved can go towards your travel, merchandise, new events and track days all of which we are in the process of organising for you.

Questions

Some of you are asking us specific questions via the website contact form. When they are received, we direct your questions to the right person in our team and endeavor to get back to you within 24 hours.

USA Assessments

Formula Woman USA will be undertaking their own assessments at the same time as we run the UK ones in September. There is now a section on our website for any Formula Woman USA related questions.

Online Tutorial

Finally, the Online Tutorial is scheduled to go live in May. Each applicant will be given instructions on how to access this facility and it should be a fun way of getting started.

Formula Woman newsletter - 4th April, 2021

Welcome to this week's newsletter. Since we were last in touch we have received quite a lot of questions, especially over the Easter break, via our website and also through our social media channels. Hopefully all these have been responded to, but to help other applicants, here are a few answers and guidelines as you prepare for your Formula Woman adventure.

Personal Sponsors

Any Formula Woman who has secured a sponsor to cover their access fee, will eventually be asked for the name or logo of their sponsor prior to their assessment day. This will be applied to the car that you will drive or the helmet you are wearing for your assessment.

Many of you have asked if you can attract more sponsorship and the answer is yes of course, these are your own personal backers.

You may want to purchase merchandise, race wear or undertake a track day with Formula Woman, which we will be announcing soon, for those of you who want to be well prepared.

By having a personal sponsor, you will be able to do all of this without having to pay out of your own pocket.

If you are fortunate to be one of the six winners, then your personal sponsor will be with you all the way!

Media

There has been some confusion over local and regional media coverage.
To clarify, yes you are encouraged to create your own media coverage if you so wish. Again, this is what racing drivers have to do.

However, what we are doing is contacting your local media on an individual basis to let them know you have entered the competition, so we need to know if you DONT want us to do this. As you progress towards the assessments, we will also require you to sign a media disclaimer to allow our TV production company to film you during the competition.

Welcome Packs

For all who have applied to date, you should have now received your welcome packs apart from The North American applicants who should receive their welcome packs next week all being well.

You will see that your access card in the pack is numbered so please make a note of this number, as this is your access code throughout the competition. You will also be required to produce this card at the assessment.

Online Tuition

Your on-line tuition and assessment will soon be available (May 2021) and you will need your personal ID code to access the On-Line Portal.

There is an assessment after the tutorial, which will be relatively easy to pass, and if you don’t pass first time, you can attempt to do it again! Further detailed information will be provided in due course.

Merchandise

Formula Woman merchandise will be available very soon and will be launched on to F1.co.uk online store as well as on the Formula Woman website.

We also have some free stickers available, which allows you to promote the fact that you are indeed “A Formula Woman’.

Let Abi know if you would like some of these posting to you. Her email is on the Formula Woman contact page.

Track Days

Some of you have asked if you are allowed to undertake track days prior to the assessments. We can’t stop you and we don’t want to stop you.

However, we are about to launch the iZone opportunity, where you will be able to go to their Silverstone headquarters and use their simulators.

We will also be hosting some Formula Woman track days at various tracks across the UK in our Mazda MX5’s and Project 8 Jaguars.

Details available on request from Lex whose email is on the Formula Woman contact page.

Social Media

Finally, as I’m sure you are all aware, Social Media is huge and very much connected to TV media.

We are looking for Formula Woman applicants who are prepared to do a piece to the camera on their phone, stating your name, occupation, where you are from and why you have entered the Formula Woman competition.

Anyone interested in doing this should contact Ed whose email is on the Formula Woman contact page.

Formula Woman Newsletters - 1st April 2021

So, what is new at Formula Woman? We have updated our website, in particular the contact us section, where several email contacts have been added so that you can address any specific questions you may have to one of our team, who will respond to you in person.

Local and regional news coverage

We have been approached by local/regional newspapers and radio stations to ask if they can do a story on local applicants. Therefore, we have decided to do something we did back in 2005 with the original Formula Woman concept….

We would like to encourage applicants to contact their local media and ask them if they would like to do a story on the fact that you have recently become a Formula Woman. Why would you want to do that? Two reasons….

Firstly, as with sponsorship, motorsport revolves around the Media and we would like all applicants who achieve some local coverage, to bring what they have achieved with them to their first assessment.

Secondly, our TV production team want to find applicants with different strengths other than just driving ability.

We also need your permission should a local newspaper or radio station ask us if they can contact you to do a short story on your Formula Woman adventure. If you don’t want to be contacted for media coverage please email us via the contact form on the Formula Woman website.

Sponsorship

We have recently had a lot of questions regarding sponsors. We are in the process of creating some guidelines for those looking for personal sponsors, not only for the access fee, but also to support them throughout the Formula Woman competition and beyond. Motorsport revolves around sponsors and how to look after them once they have been acquired.

Television

We should also point out that when you arrive at your first assessment day, as well as the usual motorsport disclaimers, you will be asked to sign a TV release form which means that you consent to being on television.

And finally

Hopefully these newsletters will help you to understand how the Formula Woman experience will work prior to you arriving on track!

If you haven’t applied yet, don’t worry applications are still being accepted. Click the button below to apply.
